The 12-man squad announced for the second Test has been ruled out due to injuries to James Anderson and Ollie Stone.

England lost the first Test at Edgbaston by 251 runs. Moeen had a disappointing performance in the first Test and was able to take three wickets for 172 runs and scored 0 and 4 runs in the match. He was dismissed by off-spinner Nathan Lyon of Australia in both innings. Lion took nine wickets in this match.

England may give pacer Jofra Archer a chance to make his Test debut in this match. Archer was not included in the first Test due to lack of fit. Jofra Archer took seven wickets for 106 in a three-day match against the second XI of Sussex this week and proved his fitness by scoring a century.

The XI could replace Anderson as left-arm fast bowler Sam Karen, who has played 10 Tests and his last Test was against Ireland at Lord’s last month.
