Fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who picked ten wickets in the second Test match against West Indies in Hyderabad, has returned to India’s one-day cricket team. He has been included in the team for the first two ODIs to be played with the Caribbean team in place of injured Shardul Thakur. “The selection committee has put Umesh Yadav in place of Shardul Thakur for the first two ODIs against the West Indies,” the BCCI said in a statement. Thakur will not play in the ODI series because of the muscles. ‘

Shardul had a chance to make his debut in the Hyderabad Test, but after ten balls he had to leave the ground due to muscle strain. Umesh had taken 10 wickets in this match and he is only the third fast bowler to do this after Javagal Srinath and Kapil Dev on home soil. Umesh Yadav played his last one-day match against England at Lord’s on 14 July this year.

For the first two ODIs, the Indian team is as follows:

Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Ambati Rayudu, Manish Pandey, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (wicketkeeper), Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuswendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Khalil Ahmed Umesh Yadav.
