Football News – Long-fought war-torn Afghanistan is currently in the news of the sexual harassment of members of the National Women’s Football Team. Terming these accusations as embarrassing, President Ashraf Ghani has ordered an inquiry into the matter. A few days ago a newspaper in its report accused the women’s men’s officers and the head of the country’s football federation as a sexual harassment of the players.
Terming sexual harassment as a serious charge, Ghani said, “The harassment of any female or male player will not be tolerated. I have asked the Attorney General to conduct a thorough investigation of the matter. Due to these allegations, people can take away their children from playing. There must be serious steps on this. There will be no harassment with the children. We will deal with these crimes legally. ‘ After the President’s order, the Attorney General’s office informed about the formation of the investigation team.
Recently, the Guardian newspaper had quoted former Afghan captain Khalida Popal saying that along with the headquarters of the Afghan Football Federation (AFF), the players were forced to co-operate with the training camp in Jordan in February last year. AFF General Secretary Sayed Ali Reza said these allegations are false. But Afghan Olympic Hafizullah Wali Rahimi says the allegations are not new. Among these allegations, Denmark’s sports company Hummel has canceled the team’s sponsorship. FIFA has also said to investigate the allegations.
