Chris Jericho will participate in Wrestle Kingdom 14 fighting Hiroshi Tanahashi and could be his last fight in New Japan Pro Wrestling

Reveal why you need to keep your character constantly updated

All Elite Wrestling World Champion Chris Jericho was interviewed by Kevin Kellam for 101WKQX in Chicago. There he talked about his current relationship with NJPW and how he managed to keep his character updated. Here are the most prominent statements:

NJPW and the desire to work with Tanahashi

“Since AEW has a weekly television program, I haven’t been able to keep up with New Japan Pro-Wrestling. It’s a very different change from last year, because I had so much emphasis on working in Japan and now I forgot about it. When I arrived All Elite Wrestling came out of the hustle and bustle of Japan and I had six fights that I really enjoyed. I really wanted to work with Okada and Tanahashi and that’s what we did: With Okada in June and soon with Tanahashi. ”

“I don’t know if I will participate in more fights in Japan in the next few years, I had the opportunity to work with tremendous athletes and Tanahashi will be the last. When you have been doing this for as long as I have, it feels incredible to fight with those who have never done. I want to find out on my own, really know how good they are on top of the ring. ”

“On December 18 it will be the last AEW Dynamite program and there will be no Christmas program. At that time I will be able to focus on the fight with Tanahashi in Wrestle Kingdom 14 and it will be great. I am excited because we recorded some promos and people are excited about what we will do together. ”

The freshness of the character

“My character is constantly evolving, I don’t like living in the past, or doing the same thing twice, fans never know exactly what you’re going to offer him. I know when it’s the right time to change. When I stopped being Y2J to do the Jericho’s list was a great change. That’s one of the reasons I love working at AEW because if I go back to WWE they will ask me to do La Lista again and for me that is a thing of the past. ”

With his new character, Jericho teamed up with Stephen Amell to produce a wine line based on his phrase “A Little Bit of the Bubbly.” In 2 days he managed to sell 10,000 bottles.
